What Does A School Teacher Expect From A Parent?

Teachers, Students and the Parents are the major stakeholders of every educational institution, wherein good cooperation and understanding is expected from all the three in order to enhance the beauty of education and growth of any educational institutions.

Due to this recent pandemic which is struck globally, has greatly affected the overall education of a child and interaction with the parents. Every parent has started to bring out the negatives of the teachers, institutions and the system overall. Majority of the parents have stopped taking interest in their child's education. Whereas many others have started  blame games saying that:

'I can teach much better than this teacher'

Is it the right quality of notes or answers given?

'Teacher is explaining it wrong'

What the hell, anytime any changes are implemented?

Why does the teacher point out only my child all the time?

'Teacher is very rude to address'

'I don't have time to visit school'

and many more questions of such kind.

So in this article I am going to enlist a few points of high importance so that every parent should make a note while visiting any teacher in an educational institution.

  1. Be Polite Everytime

Whenever we approach any teacher for any specific kind of official work or to discuss wards progress, as a parent we should be very humble and polite while talking. Talking in high pitch disrespectfully gives a negative impression of you in front of the teacher. Also the child absorbs the same way of conversation for their teachers. No matter how many complaints or queries you have, it's advisable to be very down to earth and talk politely to a teacher.

  1. Be Punctual All The Time

Punctuality is something which is desirable from most parents. No wonder, every individual is occupied with work related to their sector but giving priority to the school when called specifically is highly important. Then be it attending the parents meeting, open day, submissions, payment of fees etc, presence of every parent is a must. If we are punctual in our work then the same feature will be passed on to our children, who indirectly will learn the value of time in their life.

  1. Be Alert Every Moment

Every Information which is passed on by the educational institution or a teacher is meant for the professional growth and development of the school and particularly students. Every parent needs to be alert in knowing the information at the right time and reacting towards it at the stipulated time duration assigned. Many times it so happens that by being busy in daily life, we skip important notifications and announcements being passed on by the teacher and the school thereby leading to a negative image of us in front of the parents. So as a parent we need to be at the tip of our toes to know better about the happenings in the school with regards to students.

  1. Be Flexible As Per Need

Flexibility of every parent is essential for supporting the development of a child. As a parent we should be available at the right time. Prime importance should be given for attending the school and other activities of the school which boost the overall growth and development of a child. Be available 24*7 for the betterment of your child. After all, the future of your child is in our hands.

  1. Be Appreciable For The Change

Every teacher has her own unique way of teaching children and getting the work done on time. And patterns of teaching and methodology need to be changed depending upon the diverse group of students and their understanding and grasping level. As a parent we should appreciate teachers for every change she instills in the classroom to serve the individual differences of a student and still manages to be successful in this change. Support and cooperation of every parent in all sorts of changes implemented by the school is highly essential for its fullest development.

  1. Be Supportive For The Growth

Every teacher is a disciplinarian in it's own way. We as a parent should ensure that we should be very supportive towards the kind of discipline which promotes healthy competition among a child. Participation in school events and activities like sports , cultural programs, extempore, poem recitation, poster making, yoga, music, singing and dancing, elocution, exhibition etc. Every parent should encourage their children to participate in all kinds of school activities and be supportive for the growth of every child.

  1. Be Respectful With Everyone

Teaching is the most noble profession and teachers deserve the respect of being a part of it. Greeting a teacher when you meet is the very first way of paying respect to a teacher. Your presentation and communication skills as a parent has a great influence on the upbringing and growth of a child too. Hence we as a parent should respect every teacher irrespective of their age, qualifications, experience and position. Any negative behavior of us in front of the teachers is quickly grasped by the children and later they try to enact it in the same way with the teachers.

Every teacher expects a greater cooperation and respect from the parents, and teachers do deserve it being in the most noble and respectable profession. Your supporting and encouraging words as a parent can give more strength to a teacher and make her busy hectic day a beautiful one.

Keep Supporting, Keep Growing!!

Happy Learning!!!
